Do you offer everything you possible could for your clients?

How do you come up with new ideas?

I looked at all the things that The Write Impression was offering, and wondered what else I could give to people.

George Bernard Shaw once said, “If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchange these apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.”

This list is how I generated new ideas, and they are all excellent ways of getting new ideas for your business (or anything, really):

  • You can brainstorm (in a structured way) things that people need – for me, that was writing-related things.
  • You can ask your friends, your colleagues and your social networks what they need.
  • You can read a lot of research.
  • You can observe.
  • You can ask your clients.
  • You can ask your mentors.
  • You can look at what other people are offering.
  • You can use mind maps.
  • You can meditate – with music, before you go to bed, in the shower, on a walk to the beach…

Can you add any different methods for getting ideas to this list?

Why do I need new ideas?

  • I provide excellent copywriting for websites.
  • I help people with their blogs. (I even ghost-write blogs if you haven’t time.)
  • I write marketing materials that speak to your audience.
  • I copy-edit, line-edit and proofread.
  • I train people how to write for their business: proposals, emails, bogs, websites, flyers, brochures, you name it.

It is probably enough, but it all seems very… ordinary.

So I wanted to offer more.

And I found some excellent new ideas.

I’m going to tell you about two of them:

Just recently, several people have wanted me to help them to write a book. Let’s be honest. They actually wanted me to write the book for them. I have ghost-written several books, but it’s not cheap – and these particular people didn’t want to pay me for the time it takes for me to write a book for someone else.

They knew that if they wrote the book, they could do it faster, because they were already experts in the content – but they didn’t have the time!

So I developed a new service just for them:

It’s an awesome way of getting your book written!

Speak your book

This is not just me teaching you how to write your own book.

This is me teaching you how to get your book in order, chapter by chapter, section by section, paragraph by paragraph, until you are ready to dictate your book! If you want to know more about this service, the information is here.

Already, several people have taken this up, and there are a few more who are very interested!

Watercolour Memoirs Workshops

Another exciting innovation is the new Watercolour Memoirs workshops that Kathy Karas, and I will be running.

In the workshops, you will:

  • Bring a photo or a significant image from your past…

…or your family’s past.

  • Recreate it in water colour – or another paint medium of your choice (with Kathy Karas’ expert guidance.)
  • Immerse yourself in the stories surrounding the image.
  • Write (or record) those family stories (with Dr Rie’s help.)
  • Learn how to preserve those stories.

*You don’t need any previous artistic or writing experience.

*morning and afternoon tea supplied
